Short explanation

The CVE-2026-119340 vulnerability in Tesseract arises from reading matrix dimensions as signed int32_t values and performing insufficient comparisons. This can lead to out-of-bounds accesses and denial of service when loading crafted traineddata files.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability can enable denial of service attacks in scenarios involving local access and user interaction. Permitted negative dimensions and flawed allocation states can cause applications to crash.

What should be done?

  • Update Tesseract software to version 5.5.4
  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Restrict loading of untrusted traineddata files
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

Tesseract is an open source OCR engine. Prior to 5.5.4, GENERIC_2D_ARRAY::DeSerializeSize in src/ccstruct/matrix.h reads matrix dimensions as signed int32_t values and compares them only with UINT16_MAX, allowing negative values to reach ResizeNoInit. Negative dimensions or a 65535 by 65535 product can create inconsistent allocation state and later out-of-bounds accesses while loading a crafted traineddata file, causing denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 5.5.4.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.

Public exploit and active exploitation status

Verified exploit intelligence

No verified public PoC, exploit repository or Metasploit module has been found for this CVE yet.
