Short explanation

A heap use-after-free vulnerability exists in Ladybird due to reentrant unregister() calls within FinalizationRegistry::cleanup(). This creates a memory-corruption primitive.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to gain a memory-corruption primitive and leads to critical security impacts.

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor advisory
  • Update to the fixed commit level
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Ladybird tarayıcısında FinalizationRegistry::cleanup() fonksiyonu heap use-after-free zafiyeti barındırmaktadır.

Bu zafiyet üretici ortamlarında bellek bozulması primitifi yaratmaktadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

Ladybird is a truly independent web browser. Prior to 209579c96473c75bd5eba9701fcadb841a045964, FinalizationRegistry::cleanup() in Libraries/LibJS/Runtime/FinalizationRegistry.cpp removed a dead record from m_records, retained an iterator to the next FinalizationRecord, and then invoked attacker-controlled JavaScript through the cleanup callback. If that callback called unregister() for the next record, remove_by_token() freed the node referenced by the retained iterator, and the next cleanup iteration read its target and held_value fields after free. This reliably crashes instrumented WebContent builds and creates a memory-corruption primitive in production builds. This vulnerability is fixed by commit 209579c96473c75bd5eba9701fcadb841a045964.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
