Short explanation
A vulnerability exists in the pypdf library where parsing crafted PDF files containing cross-reference streams can lead to excessive memory consumption (S0).
This flaw can lead to high availability impact through denial of service conditions caused by unvalidated crafted input parsing (S0).
What should be done?
- Update to version 6.21.3 or later (S0).
- Follow vendor advisory recommendations (S0).
Chain of evidence and sources
pypdf 6.21.3 öncesi sürümler, çapraz referans akışlarını işlerken aşırı bellek tüketimine karşı savunmasızdır (S0).
Negatif /Index sayıları mevcut akış başına sınırlandırmaları atlayabilmektedir (S0).
Show the technical text from the sources
pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.21.3, pypdf can consume excessive memory while opening a crafted PDF containing cross-reference streams that declare very large entry counts. Highly compressible streams and /Prev chains can multiply the number of parsed entries across a document, while negative /Index counts can bypass the existing per-stream clamp. This issue is fixed in version 6.21.3.
