Short explanation

CVE-2026-119206 involves a vulnerability in the pypdf library that can cause excessive runtimes when retrieving page labels [S0]. This issue arises from crafted PDF files containing specific page-label number trees [S0].

Why does it matter?

The vulnerability can be triggered over the network with user interaction, introducing high availability risks due to excessive resource exhaustion [S0].

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories [S0]
  • Apply updates where available [S0]
  • Account for patch status uncertainty in assessments [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

pypdf kütüphanesinin 6.21.3 öncesi sürümleri, özel hazırlanmış PDF dosyalarında uzun çalışma sürelerine karşı savunmasızdır.

Yama durumu resmî kaynaklarda henüz doğrulanamamıştır.

Show the technical text from the sources

pypdf is a free and open-source pure-python PDF library. Prior to 6.21.3, pypdf can take excessive time to retrieve page labels from a crafted PDF containing a flat page-label number tree with many ranges. The page_labels property resolves each page independently and repeatedly scans the same /Nums array from the beginning, causing work to grow with both the page count and the number of label ranges. This issue is fixed in version 6.21.3.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
