Short explanation
A vulnerability in @hono/node-server allows an unauthenticated attacker to bypass middleware on protected static paths and read files inside the configured static root by leveraging double decoding of the request path [S0].
This security flaw enables remote attackers without authentication to access sensitive static files, potentially resulting in unauthorized information disclosure [S0].
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories and security updates [S0]
- Upgrade to patched releases where available [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources
@hono/node-server bileşeninde serveStatic işlevi, yönlendirme sonrasında istek yolunu ikinci kez çözer [S0].
Kimlik doğrulaması gerektirmeyen bir saldırgan, statik yollardaki ara katman yazılımını atlayarak statik kök dizin içindeki bir dosyayı okuyabilir [S0].
Show the technical text from the sources
@hono/node-server allows running the Hono application on Node.js. From 1.19.10 until 2.1.3, serveStatic decodes a request path a second time after Hono has already decoded it for routing, so a malformed percent-encoded sequence can make route middleware evaluate an encoded path while static file resolution uses a different directory. An unauthenticated attacker can bypass middleware mounted on a protected static prefix and read a file inside the configured static root, although the flaw does not permit traversal outside that root. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.3.
