Query-Parameter Injection Vulnerability in i18next-http-backend

Short explanation

In i18next-http-backend versions prior to 4.0.4, the interpolateUrl function inserts language and namespace values into templates without encoding. This can lead to query-parameter injection and potential exposure of other namespaces or tenants.

Why does it matter?

Attackers can add or override parameters on browser or server-side translation requests. This can change backend behavior through the application's network position and credentials.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories to review necessary updates
  • Upgrade to version 4.0.4 or later where applicable
  • Review template configurations
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

i18next-http-backend 4.0.4 öncesi sürümlerde interpolateUrl, unencoded değerleri şablonlara ekler.

Bu zafiyet, CVE-2026-41691 için yapılan eksik bir düzeltmenin sonucudur.

Show the technical text from the sources

i18next-http-backend is a backend layer for i18next that loads translation resources in Node.js, browsers, and Deno. Prior to 4.0.4, interpolateUrl inserts unencoded language and namespace values into loadPath or addPath templates without rejecting ampersand (&), equals (=), or semicolon (;) query separators. When a template places lng or ns in the query string and an attacker controls that value, the attacker can add or override parameters on browser or server-side translation requests, potentially exposing other namespaces or tenants or changing backend behavior through the application's network position and credentials. This vulnerability is the result of an incomplete fix for CVE-2026-41691. This issue is fixed in version 4.0.4.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.

Public exploit and active exploitation status

Verified exploit intelligence

No verified public PoC, exploit repository or Metasploit module has been found for this CVE yet.
