Short explanation
A race condition vulnerability exists in the HOTP authentication mechanism of the keycloak-services component. This flaw allows an attacker to reuse a single one-time password across multiple concurrent login attempts.
The vulnerability can lead to bypassed authentication controls and unauthorized access in concurrent login scenarios.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisory notices
- Monitor patch status through official channels
- Apply updates when available

Show the technical text from the sources
A flaw was found in the HOTP authentication mechanism of the keycloak-services component, which provides identity and access management services. The issue occurs because the system validates a one-time password and updates its internal counter in two separate steps without proper locking. An attacker with a users password could exploit this timing gap to use a single one-time code to log in multiple times simultaneously.
