Short explanation

CVE-2026-117685 involves a CWE-863 authorization bypass in Gitea during cross-repository blob mounting within the OCI registry, allowing public-only package tokens to access private OCI blobs.

Why does it matter?

This authorization flaw allows private package contents and container layers to be mounted into public packages and downloaded by unauthorized users, resulting in potential sensitive data exposure.

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor advisory and update Gitea
  • Review the provided patch references
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

CVE-2026-117685 zafiyeti CWE-863 yetki denetimi hatasından kaynaklanmaktadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

The OCI registry's cross-repository blob mount checked the target package against the token's `public-only` restriction, but checked the source blob only against the full account permissions of the token owner. A `public-only` token with `write:package` scope, whose owner can read a private package and write to a public package namespace, could mount a blob of the private package into the public package. The private blob, such as a container layer, could then be downloaded by anyone through the public package.
