Short explanation

A high-severity vulnerability in Highcharts Core allows javascript URLs within xlink:href attributes to bypass text filtering and reach exported charts.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability enables attackers to preserve malicious scripts in serialized chart outputs, which execute within the document origin when exported or server-rendered SVG is parsed and a user activates the link.

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor security advisory
  • Apply updates when available
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Highcharts Core kütüphanesinde xlink:href özniteliğindeki javascript URL'leri filtreden geçerek dışa aktarılan grafiklere ulaşmaktadır.

Güvenlik açığı, CVSS 4.0 taban puanı 7.2 olan yüksek önem derecesine sahiptir.

Show the technical text from the sources

Highcharts JS is a JavaScript charting library based on SVG. From 10.3.2 until 11.4.9, 12.6.2, and 13.1.1, Highcharts accepts an SVG anchor xlink:href attribute without applying the allowed-scheme check used for href and src. An attacker who controls a chart text option can preserve a javascript URL in serialized chart output. When exported or server-rendered SVG is parsed again and a user activates the link, script runs in the origin of that document. This issue is fixed in 11.4.9, 12.6.2 and 13.1.1.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
