Short explanation
A vulnerability in P-Net causes resource exhaustion and denial of service because RPC requests to unknown interfaces fail to release allocated sessions [S0].
A remote unauthenticated attacker can exhaust available RPC sessions, preventing the device from responding to new requests and causing a denial of service [S0].
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources
P-Net 1.0.3 öncesi sürümler, bilinmeyen arayüzler için ayrılan RPC oturumlarını serbest bırakmaz ve zaman aşımı başlatmaz [S0].
Tekrarlanan istekler oturumları tüketerek cihazın yeni RPC isteklerine yanıt vermesini engeller ve yeniden başlatma gerektirir [S0].
Show the technical text from the sources
P-Net before 1.0.3 does not release the RPC session allocated for an RPC request that names an unknown interface or object UUID, and does not start a timeout for it. Repeated requests with different activity UUIDs exhaust the available sessions. Once they are exhausted the device no longer answers new RPC requests, including Endpoint Mapper Lookup and Connect, until it is restarted. A remote unauthenticated attacker can use this to cause a denial of service.
