Short explanation

CVE-2026-115732 causes a certificate-name matching issue in affected products due to incorrect authorization in the trapperkeeper-authorization component used by Puppet Server [S0].

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows unauthorized clients to impersonate other nodes, access certificate-authority administration, and execute remote commands on managed nodes [S0].

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor advisory to apply updates [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

Incorrect authorization in the certificate-name matching of trapperkeeper-authorization, as used by Puppet Server, in the affected products, allows a client that holds a CA-signed certificate whose name extends or shortens an authorized hostname to be authorized as that host. This enables impersonation of other nodes and, in Puppet Enterprise, access to certificate-authority administration and remote command execution on managed nodes. Exploitation requires a certificate with a colliding name, which the certificate authority issues by approval or autosign.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
