Short explanation
A NULL Pointer Dereference vulnerability in the Packetbeat AMQP protocol parser can lead to denial of service. According to sources S0 and S1, an unauthenticated attacker can terminate the Packetbeat process by sending specially crafted network traffic.
Attackers can exploit this vulnerability to stop the monitoring tool, resulting in a loss of network telemetry collection during the downtime.
What should be done?
- Follow official vendor advisories S0
- Apply available updates for the affected versions

Show the technical text from the sources
NULL Pointer Dereference (CWE-476) in the AMQP protocol parser in Packetbeat can lead to denial of service via specially crafted network traffic. An unauthenticated attacker who can send traffic on a network segment that Packetbeat monitors for AMQP can cause a Go runtime panic that terminates the Packetbeat process. A single crafted packet is sufficient. No AMQP authentication is necessary. While Packetbeat is not running, it does not collect network telemetry.
