Short explanation

A sensitive information insertion vulnerability in Kibana can allow authenticated users to obtain Elasticsearch connection credentials.

Why does it matter?

An authorized user can exploit this vulnerability to access Elasticsearch directly using the privileges of the Kibana service account, exceeding their granted permissions.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisory guidance
  • Review Kibana configuration settings
  • Tighten access permissions
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Kibana Observability onboarding sürecindeki CWE-201 zafiyeti, kimlik bilgisi ifşasına neden olabilir.

Kimlik bilgileri host URL'lerine gömüldüğünde, ilgili yetkiye sahip kullanıcılar doğrudan Elasticsearch'e erişebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

Insertion of Sensitive Information Into Sent Data (CWE-201) in Kibana Observability onboarding can lead to disclosure of the credentials that Kibana uses to connect to Elasticsearch. When these credentials are embedded in the Elasticsearch host URLs in the Kibana configuration, an authenticated user with the privileges to onboard Observability data can obtain them. The user can then access Elasticsearch directly with the privileges of the Kibana service account, which are outside the privileges granted to that user.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
