Short explanation

A flaw exists in mod_qos where sending a specially crafted JSON request while JSON body filtering is enabled triggers an out-of-bounds read error. An unauthenticated remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability to cause a Denial of Service (DoS) condition.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated remote attackers to crash Apache worker processes and create a Denial of Service condition.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories for patch status information
  • Review related module configurations

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw was found in mod_qos. An unauthenticated remote attacker could cause a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending a specially crafted JSON request when JSON body filtering is enabled. Due to improper string termination during the processing of percent-encoded input, the module reads past allocated memory boundaries, which can cause an Apache worker process to crash.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
