Short explanation

A hidden backdoor in the DJI CrystalSky ZS600C firmware allows arbitrary command execution with root privileges via the USB serial interface.

Why does it matter?

An attacker with physical access can compromise the device with root privileges over a USB connection.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Monitor for updates from official sources
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

DJI CrystalSky ZS600C donanım yazılımı v0.3.9.7 ile v0.6.6.9 arasındaki sürümler zafiyetten etkilenebilir.

USB-gadget seri arayüzüne gönderilen 'dji26656677' dizgisi, komutların root yetkileri ile çalıştırılmasına izin verir.

Show the technical text from the sources

Hidden functionality (undocumented backdoor) in the root-privileged 'assistant' daemon in DJI CrystalSky ZS600C firmware v0.3.9.7 through v0.6.6.9 on Android allows a physically-present attacker with USB access to execute arbitrary OS commands as root by sending the hard-coded magic string 'dji26656677' to the USB-gadget serial interface (/dev/ttyGS0), after which each subsequent line is passed to system().
