Short explanation

Trigger.dev before 4.5.2 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in the CLI authorization-code flow. This flaw allows attackers to mint unauthenticated codes, lure logged-in users to the URL, and retrieve Personal Access Tokens to take over accounts.

Why does it matter?

This flaw allows attackers to completely take over user accounts through the exploitation of unauthenticated endpoints. It poses significant security risks due to its high impact.

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor advisory
  • Update the Trigger.dev software
  • Review authorization flows

Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

Trigger.dev before 4.5.2 contains a cross-site request forgery vulnerability in the CLI authorization-code flow because loading /account/authorization-code/<code> mints a Personal Access Token without any consent step. Attackers mint an unauthenticated code, lure a logged-in user to that URL, then retrieve the victim's PAT from the unauthenticated /api/v1/token endpoint to take over the account.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
