Short explanation

Netgate pfSense CE versions 2.7.1 through 2.9.0 contain a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability in firewall_rules.php that allows remote script injection via the unencoded if parameter.

Why does it matter?

It allows remote attackers to target privileged users and execute arbitrary scripts within the WebGUI using the victim's permissions.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and updates
  • Review the Require Firewall Interface setting
  • Educate users against untrusted links
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Zafiyetin sömürülmesi için Require Firewall Interface seçeneğinin etkin olması ve kullanıcı etkileşimi gereklidir.

Show the technical text from the sources

Netgate pfSense CE 2.7.1 through 2.9.0 contains a reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability in firewall_rules.php that allows remote attackers to inject script via the unencoded if parameter. When the non-default Require Firewall Interface option is enabled, attackers can lure users with firewall rules privileges into opening a crafted GET link to execute script in the WebGUI with their privileges.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
