Short explanation

Versions of libxmp up to 4.7.4 contain an off‑by‑one stack out‑of‑bounds read in the prowizard P61A depacker. An attacker can supply a crafted header‑less P61A module with 31 samples and a 0xffe0 back‑reference size word to leak stack memory into sample metadata or disrupt loading.

Why does it matter?

Memory leakage can expose confidential data and cause service disruption.

What should be done?

  • Monitor the vendor advisory and apply a patch when one is released.
  • Patch status is UNKNOWN, so keep abreast of updates and security bulletins.
  • Restrict or disable processing of untrusted P61A modules.
  • Review libxmp usage in the environment and apply risk‑mitigation controls.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
