Short explanation
Komodo versions through 2.3.3 contain an authentication bypass vulnerability in the Periphery agent that allows unauthenticated attackers to execute remote code on managed hosts with root privileges.
Failing open by default when core public keys and passkeys lists are empty allows attackers reaching port 8120 to issue API requests without authentication and achieve complete compromise.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories and apply available updates
- Secure key list configurations on Periphery agents

Chain of evidence and sources
Show the technical text from the sources
Komodo through 2.3.3 contains an authentication bypass vulnerability in the Periphery agent that allows unauthenticated attackers to connect as a trusted Core because empty core_public_keys and passkeys lists fail open by default. Attackers reaching port 8120 can present any generated keypair to issue Periphery API requests, including terminal sessions and container operations, executing commands on managed hosts typically as root.
