Short explanation

Mini-XML versions 4.0.0 through 4.0.6 contain a stack out-of-bounds write vulnerability in mxml_strtod(). Triggered when the locale decimal point is not '.', this flaw can corrupt stack memory or crash the process.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability can lead to stack memory corruption or application crashes via maliciously crafted XML input when locale settings differ from the default.

What should be done?

Show the technical text from the sources

Mini-XML 4.0.0 through 4.0.6 contains an off-by-one stack out-of-bounds write in mxml_strtod() when the locale decimal point is not '.'. Attackers can supply XML with a 63-digit REAL value followed by '.' to write a NUL byte past the 64-byte stack buffer, corrupting stack memory or crashing the process.
