Short explanation

CVE-2026-110260 affects OW2 ASM versions 3.0 before 9.11 in the MethodWriter component. Specially crafted class files can lead to excessive memory consumption and JVM crashes.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to trigger denial-of-service conditions on target systems via externally supplied custom class files.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories for OW2 ASM versions before 9.11.
  • Apply the provided patch references and commit fixes.
  • Update the affected library versions.

Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

OW2 ASM 3.0 ile 9.11 arasındaki sürümler, MethodWriter bileşeninde kuadratik bellek tahsisi açığı barındırır.

Örtüşen istisna işleyicilerine sahip özel sınıf dosyaları, aşırı bellek tüketimine ve JVM çökmelerine sebep olur.

Show the technical text from the sources

OW2 ASM 3.0 before 9.11 contains a quadratic memory allocation vulnerability in MethodWriter.computeMaxStackAndLocal() and computeAllFrames() when using COMPUTE_MAXS or COMPUTE_FRAMES. Attackers can supply a crafted class file with thousands of overlapping exception handlers, causing excessive Edge allocations and an OutOfMemoryError that crashes the JVM.
