Short explanation
A heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability was identified in Ghostscript during TrueType font processing due to an npointstotal integer underflow. This issue occurs when processing specially crafted content (S0).
This vulnerability can enable attackers to trigger Denial of Service crashes or achieve arbitrary code execution effects on target systems (S0).
What should be done?
- Follow the vendor advisory (S0).
Chain of evidence and sources
Ghostscript bileşeninde npointstotal tamsayı düşüşü sebebiyle heap tabanlı tampon taşması zafiyeti bulunmaktadır.
Zafiyet, servis dışı bırakma (DoS) çökmelerine veya rastgele kod yürütmeye yol açabilir.
Show the technical text from the sources
A flaw was found in Ghostscript. When processing a specially crafted TrueType font or document embedding one, an accounting error during font rendering can bypass buffer size checks, triggering a heap-based buffer overflow. A remote attacker could exploit this by enticing a victim or automated service to open the malicious content, potentially resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS) crash or arbitrary code execution.
