Short explanation

The Ninja Forms – Contact Form Builder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to stored cross‑site scripting in all releases up to 3.15.5. An unauthenticated attacker can supply malicious code via the formData.extra parameter, which is stored and later executed when any user views the affected page. Exploitation requires only a single request because the nf_ajax_submit endpoint returns a valid nonce on failure, bypassing CSRF protection. No active exploitation is reported, and the patch status is currently unknown. (S0,S1)

Why does it matter?

The injected script can lead to session hijacking, credential theft, and page defacement, posing serious security risks. (S0)

What should be done?

  • Update the plugin to a patched version when released (S0)
  • Monitor official advisories since patch status is unknown (S0)
  • Implement proper input sanitization and output escaping (S1)
  • Enforce strict nonce validation and strengthen CSRF protection (S1)
  • Configure WAF rules to block XSS payloads (S1)

Show the technical text from the sources

The Ninja Forms – Contact Form Builder with Calculators, Quizzes, Signatures & AI Form Builder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'formData.extra' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 3.15.5 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The nf_ajax_submit endpoint issues a valid nonce to any requester on failure, effectively neutralizing the nonce check and making exploitation trivially achievable in a single unauthenticated request.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
