Short explanation

Gitea Actions artifact v4 (Twirp) handlers read the entire request body into memory without limits, which can cause server memory exhaustion (S0).

Why does it matter?

If an authorized user runs a workflow and obtains the runner token, the server process can be terminated (S0).

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and updates (S0)
  • Apply the provided patches or releases for Gitea (S0)
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Gitea Actions artifact v4 (Twirp) işleyicileri istek gövdesini boyut sınırı olmaksızın belleğe okur.

Runner token alan bir kullanıcı aşırı büyük istek göndererek Gitea sürecini sonlandırabilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

The Gitea Actions artifact v4 (Twirp) handlers read the whole request body into memory without a size limit. A user who can run a workflow and obtains the runner token of that run could send an oversized request to the artifact service and exhaust the memory of the server, which terminates the Gitea process. The request body is now limited to 1 MiB.
