Short explanation
CVE-2026-105456 is a stored XSS vulnerability in RT for Incident Response (RTIR) caused by an HTML scrubber rule flaw. The extension allows links containing placeholders—including executable javascript schemes—to bypass filters, enabling script execution under a user's session and authority upon interaction.
It allows attackers, including unauthenticated email senders, to store malicious links via tickets. When users click these links, scripts execute within their sessions and can act using their authority in RT.
What should be done?
- Update to version 5.0.11 or 6.0.4
- Follow vendor advisories
Chain of evidence and sources
RTIR, HTML scrubber kuralındaki yer tutucu işleme hatası nedeniyle javascript şemasına sahip bağlantıların geçmesine izin verir.
Kimliği doğrulanmamış kullanıcılar Incident Reports kuyruğuna HTML e-posta göndererek bağlantı saklayabilir.
Zafiyet 5.0.11 ve 6.0.4 sürümlerinde giderilmiştir.
Show the technical text from the sources
RTIR extends RT's HTML scrubber to allow an internal link placeholder, and the extension lets through any link that merely contains the placeholder, including links using the executable javascript: scheme. The change applies to the whole RT instance once RTIR is installed, not only to RTIR's own queues. Anyone who can add HTML content to a ticket on such an instance can store such a link. That includes an unauthenticated sender of HTML email to the Incident Reports queue, which RTIR opens to everyone by default. Script runs when a user clicks the link, in that user's session, and can act in RT with that user's authority. This issue was fixed in version 5.0.11 and 6.0.4
