The Extensions for Leaflet Map plugin for WordPress up to version 5.4 is vulnerable to unauthenticated Stored DOM-Based Cross-Site Scripting via external GeoJSON properties.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to execute arbitrary web scripts in user browsers through external data sources due to insufficient input sanitization.

What should be done?

  • Follow official vendor advisories
  • Audit untrusted external GeoJSON URL configurations
  • Keep the plugin updated
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Yama durumu resmî kaynaklarda UNKNOWN olarak değerlendirilmiştir.

Show the technical text from the sources

The Extensions for Leaflet Map plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored DOM-Based Cross-Site Scripting via the 'feature.properties[<template-token>]' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 5.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Exploitation requires that a site administrator has previously configured a public map using the [leaflet-map]+[leaflet-geojson]+[choropleth] shortcode combination whose GeoJSON src URL is one the attacker controls — for example, through compromise of an external data host, a subdomain takeover, or a site intentionally pointing at an attacker-hosted feed.
