Short explanation

CVE-2026-101309 is a race condition vulnerability in the bhyve xHCI device model stemming from guest memory handling [S0]. This flaw allows malicious guests to crash the bhyve process or potentially execute arbitrary code in the host userspace context [S0].

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability matters because it poses a risk of escaping the virtual machine boundary into the host userspace context and compromising bhyve process integrity [S0].

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor security advisories [S0]
  • Review the relevant FreeBSD advisory document [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

CVE-2026-101309 zafiyeti, xHCI aygıt modelindeki yarış koşulundan kaynaklanmaktadır.

Açık, konuk sistemde çalışan kötü amaçlı ve ayrıcalıklı kodlar aracılığıyla tetiklenebilir.

Show the technical text from the sources

The xHCI (USB 3) device model did not validate or save the event ring size provided by the guest. The size was re-read from guest memory on each use, and Transfer Request Block (TRB) fields were loaded without protection against concurrent modification by the guest. This race condition could be triggered by a guest running malicious, privileged code. A malicious guest can crash the bhyve process or potentially execute arbitrary code in the host userspace context running the virtual machine, subject to bhyve's Capsicum sandbox.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
