Short explanation
CVE-2026-101306 addresses multiple jail filesystem root escapes caused by SCM_RIGHTS file descriptor passing failing to preserve FD_RESOLVE_BENEATH. Affected products include FreeBSD versions.
This vulnerability allows a process to clear restrictions by sending a file descriptor to itself over a Unix domain socket, enabling it to escape jail boundaries.
What should be done?
- Follow the relevant vendor advisories
- Review the FreeBSD advisory documentation
Chain of evidence and sources
SCM_RIGHTS dosya tanımlayıcısı aktarımı sırasında FD_RESOLVE_BENEATH korunmamaktadır.
Bir süreç, tanımlayıcıyı bir Unix etki alanı soketi üzerinden kendisine göndererek kısıtlamayı temizleyebilir.
Show the technical text from the sources
SCM_RIGHTS file descriptor passing did not preserve FD_RESOLVE_BENEATH when a descriptor was transferred. A process could clear the restriction by sending the descriptor to itself over a Unix domain socket. A process in a jail that has received a directory file descriptor from another jail can use these techniques to escape the jail's filesystem root restriction.
