Short explanation

CVE-2026-101302 is a remotely triggerable Denial of Service (DoS) vulnerability caused by a flaw in receive-side kernel TLS in FreeBSD. An off-by-one bug in the code searching for the inner record type can be triggered by an invalid frame, leading to an underflow and a kernel panic [S0].

Why does it matter?

A remote TLS 1.3 peer can send a specially crafted record to crash the kernel, resulting in a Denial of Service on affected systems [S0].

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor advisory [S0].
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

TLS 1.3 embeds the actual record type as the last non-zero byte of the decrypted payload, optionally followed by zero padding. The code which searches for the inner record type had an off-by-one bug which could be triggered by an invalid frame, leading to an underflow followed by an unconditional NULL pointer dereference, causing a kernel panic. A remote TLS 1.3 peer can send a specially crafted record to trigger a kernel panic, resulting in a Denial of Service (DoS).

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
