Short explanation

Apache Traffic Server frames an unread Expect: 100-continue request body as a new request. This flaw allows attackers to smuggle requests and desynchronize responses [S0].

Why does it matter?

Attackers behind a front-end proxy sharing connections can smuggle requests past the front end and desynchronize responses for other users, posing a high impact security risk [S0].

What should be done?

  • Upgrade to version 9.2.16, 10.1.5, or 10.2.1 [S0]
  • Follow vendor advisories [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Show the technical text from the sources

When a client sends a POST with Expect: 100-continue and the origin answers before reading the body, Apache Traffic Server parses the unread body left on the client connection as the next request. An attacker behind a front-end proxy that shares connections to Traffic Server can use this to smuggle requests past the front end and desynchronize responses for other users. This issue affects Apache Traffic Server: from 8.0.0 through 8.1.11, from 9.0.0 through 9.2.15, from 10.0.0 through 10.1.4, 10.2.0. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 9.2.16, 10.1.5, or 10.2.1, which fix the issue.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
