Short explanation
CVE-2025-11969 allows low‑privilege users in WSO2 products to perform administrative actions through System REST APIs due to faulty access control. The critical (9.4) exploit can lead to unauthorized configuration changes and data access.
Unauthorized admin actions jeopardize system integrity and data confidentiality.
What should be done?
- Monitor WSO2 security advisory and apply patches when released
- Restrict API access to trusted networks
- Enforce least‑privilege roles and review permissions
- Monitor API logs for suspicious activity
- Deploy additional controls such as a WAF
- Temporarily disable vulnerable APIs if necessary

Show the technical text from the sources
The System REST APIs do not correctly enforce access control mechanisms, allowing users with lower privilege roles to execute administrative actions that should be restricted. This weakness permits unauthorized operations on the affected product. Successful exploitation could enable a malicious actor to perform unauthorized administrative operations, including executing administrative functions. APIs exposed through the WSO2 API Manager's API Gateway are not affected by this vulnerability.
