Short explanation

FineReport 9.0 allows unauthenticated attackers to write arbitrary files via the design_save_svg operation of /WebReport/ReportServer by injecting directory‑traversal sequences in the filePath parameter. An attacker can upload a JSP webshell and achieve remote code execution (CVE‑2021‑48014).

Why does it matter?

File write capability enables attackers to gain full control of the server and potentially exfiltrate sensitive data.

What should be done?

  • Follow the vendor advisory for FineReport 9.0
  • Monitor for unexpected file uploads in the ReportServer directory
  • Validate or restrict the filePath parameter
  • Deploy a web‑application firewall to block traversal payloads
  • Update the application when a fix becomes available

Show the technical text from the sources

FineReport 9.0 contains a path traversal vulnerability in the /WebReport/ReportServer design_save_svg operation that allows unauthenticated attackers to write arbitrary files via the filePath parameter. Attackers can send a POST request with directory traversal sequences in filePath and a __CONTENT__ payload to write a JSP webshell and achieve remote code execution. Exploitation evidence was first observed by the Shadowserver Foundation on 2023-10-14.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
