Short explanation
CVE-2026-98962 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel btrfs file system caused by failing to free the iov memory allocation when btrfs_uring_read_extent() fails.
This flaw involves incorrect jump logic after the btrfs_uring_read_extent() call that can lead to memory management irregularities.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories and updates
- Review source code patch references
The sources give limited detail on some technical conditions. Review the chain of evidence below before deciding how to act.
Chain of evidence and sources
CVE-2026-98962, btrfs_uring_read_extent() başarısız olduğunda iov alanının serbest bırakılmaması ile ilgilidir.
Yama durumu resmî kaynaklarda UNconfirmed (UNKNOWN) olarak değerlendirilmektedir.
Show the technical text from the sources
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: free iov when btrfs_uring_read_extent() fails After btrfs_uring_read_extent(), the caller always jumped to out_acct. That skips kfree(data->iov), which is only correct for -EIOCBQUEUED where the deferred path owns the iov. On failure, fall through to out_free instead.
