Short explanation
A vulnerability exists in the Linux kernel octeontx2-pf driver where BPID assignment under CONFIG_DCB assumes queue_to_pfc_map is always initialized, leading to invalid memory access for SDP VFs.
This vulnerability can lead to system instability and invalid memory access issues within Linux kernel network driver components.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories
- Apply relevant kernel updates
Chain of evidence and sources
Linux çekirdeğindeki octeontx2-pf sürücüsünde CONFIG_DCB etkinleştirildiğinde queue_to_pfc_map başlatılmadığı için geçersiz bellek erişimi oluşur.
Sorunun giderilmesi için queue_to_pfc_map öğesine başvurulmadan önce NULL kontrolü eklenmesi ve varsayılan BPID atanması önerilmektedir.
Show the technical text from the sources
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: octeontx2-pf: Fix aura BPID assignment when CONFIG_DCB is enabled Previously, BPID assignment under CONFIG_DCB assumed `queue_to_pfc_map` was always initialized. For SDP VFs this leads to invalid memory access as it was not initialized. This patch adds a NULL check for `queue_to_pfc_map` before dereferencing it. Also, simplifies the logic by always assigning a default BPID first, then conditionally overriding it if CONFIG_DCB is enabled and the map exists.
