Short explanation
A vulnerability has been resolved in the Linux kernel rust_binder component regarding the failure to cancel deferred work items during thread exit. This can occur if a thread dies while having an active outgoing transaction.
The failure to clean up work items when a thread terminates during an active outgoing transaction can lead to system instability and unexpected behavior.
What should be done?
- Monitor Linux kernel updates
- Apply the relevant kernel fixes
Chain of evidence and sources
Show the technical text from the sources
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: rust_binder: cancel deferred work items in thread exit If there are deferred work items on the thread todo list, then they are not cleaned up in the Thread::release() method. Thus, update the code to clean up the work items even if they are deferred. This can happen if the thread dies while it has an active outgoing transaction.
