Short explanation

The CVE-2026-98652 vulnerability in the Linux kernel KVM s390 subsystem occurs because the kvm_s390_set_irq_state function lacks the necessary kvm->srcu lock during the Store status operation.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability affects the KVM s390 component within the Linux kernel virtualization infrastructure. The missing locking mechanism can lead to runtime errors that compromise system stability and security.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories
  • Apply kernel updates
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

CVE-2026-98652 zafiyeti, kvm_s390_set_irq_state fonksiyonunda eksik olan kvm->srcu kilidinden kaynaklanmaktadır.

Sorunun giderilmesi için kvm_s390_set_irq_state fonksiyonuna kvm->srcu eklenmesi gerekmektedir.

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: KVM: s390: Add missing srcu in kvm_s390_set_irq_state() Like kvm_s390_inject_vcpu(), kvm_s390_set_irq_state() also needs the kvm->srcu or the slots lock when performing the Store status operation. Fix by taking kvm->srcu in kvm_s390_set_irq_state().
