Short explanation

CVE-2026-97629 occurs when NGINX Plus or NGINX Open Source is configured with ssl_session_cache shared:name:size without explicit ssl_session_ticket_key file directives, allowing a remote unauthenticated attacker to forge client SSL sessions and bypass client certificate verification.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability can lead to the exposure of resources or functionality to unintended actors, potentially providing attackers with access to sensitive information.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and guidelines
  • Configure explicit ssl_session_ticket_key directives

Show the technical text from the sources

Description When NGINX Plus or NGINX Open Source is configured with ssl_session_cache shared:name:size without an explicit ssl_session_ticket_key file directives to automatically rotate SSL session ticket keys, a remote unauthenticated attacker is able to forge client SSL sessions in a non-deterministic manner that is beyond the attacker's control. An attacker could leverage this vulnerability to bypass verification of client certificates. Impact This vulnerability can lead to the exposure of resources or functionality to unintended actors, possibly providing attackers with access to sensitive information. There is no control plane exposure; this is a data plane issue only. Note: Software versions which have reached End of Technical Support (EoTS) are not evaluated.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
