Short explanation
The SureDash – Community, Courses & Member Dashboard plugin for WordPress up to and including version 1.12.0 is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the display_name parameter, due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping.
Authenticated attackers can inject arbitrary web scripts into pages through inadequate input sanitization. When triggered, these scripts execute within the context of other users visiting the affected pages, potentially impacting application integrity and user security.
What should be done?
- Monitor vendor advisories for patch availability and status updates
- Apply updates or patches provided by the vendor
- Ensure proper input sanitization and output escaping implementations
Chain of evidence and sources
SureDash eklentisinin 1.12.0 ve önceki sürümleri display_name parametresi üzerinden Depolanmış Siteler Arası Betik Çalıştırma (Stored XSS) açığına açıktır.
Açık, eklentinin ipucu işleyicisinin denetlenen verileri doğrudan innerHTML'e ataması ve tarayıcının veriyi canlı HTML olarak yeniden ayrıştırmasıyla tetiklenir.
Show the technical text from the sources
The SureDash – Community, Courses & Member Dashboard plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'display_name' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.12.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The exploit is triggered when any user hovers over a comment's like counter on a community page, as the plugin's tooltip handler assigns the attacker-controlled data-tooltip-description attribute value directly to innerHTML, re-parsing the browser-decoded entity payload as live HTML.
