Short explanation
The CVE-2026-89096 flaw in nfs-utils allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to trigger a Denial of Service by sending repeated state notification requests to the rpc.statd service [S0].
Failure of the exposed rpc.statd service to properly release memory allocated during callback processing leads to continuous memory growth, resource exhaustion, and service crashes [S0].
What should be done?
- Follow the vendor security advisories [S0]
- Monitor for official updates due to the unknown patch status [S0]
Chain of evidence and sources
nfs-utils bileşenindeki rpc.statd servisi, geri arama işlemleri sırasında ayrılan belleği serbest bırakmamaktadır [S0].
Tekrarlayan durum bildirim istekleri sürekli bellek büyümesine ve hizmet kesintisine yol açabilir [S0].
Show the technical text from the sources
A flaw was found in nfs-utils. An unauthenticated remote attacker can trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending repeated state notification requests to an exposed rpc.statd service. The service fails to properly release memory allocated during callback processing, leading to continuous memory growth. Sustained requests can exhaust system resources, eventually causing the service to degrade or crash.
