Short explanation
The Hide My WP Ghost – Security & Firewall plugin versions up to 7.0.12 contain insufficient input sanitization in the 'replaceHeadersAndTags' function, allowing unauthenticated attackers to perform a stored cross‑site scripting (XSS) exploit.
The exploit can cause victims to execute malicious scripts, leading to session hijacking or malicious redirects.
What should be done?
- Upgrade the plugin to the latest version released by the vendor
- Monitor the vendor advisory for patch information
- Implement HTML/JavaScript filtering on comment inputs
- Block script tags using a Web Application Firewall (WAF)
- Monitor logs for suspicious comment submissions

Show the technical text from the sources
The WP Ghost (Hide My WP Ghost) – Security & Firewall plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'replaceHeadersAndTags' function in versions up to, and including, 7.0.12 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user clicks on the injected link.
