A flaw in BusyBox dpkg allows out-of-bounds read and status file corruption because the write_status_file() function does not reset a field cursor between package stanzas (S0).

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability affects status file integrity, potentially leading to data corruption (S0).

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisory guidance (S0)
  • Monitor for updates (S1)
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

write_status_file() fonksiyonu paket girdileri arasında alan imlecini sıfırlamamaktadır (S0).

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw was found in BusyBox dpkg. The write_status_file() function does not reset a field cursor between package stanzas. When two packages are removed in a single invocation and the first stanza is larger than the second, the second package stanza can be dropped from the status file, causing limited data corruption.
