Short explanation

A vulnerability exists in the libtirpc component that causes unbounded memory allocation during portmapper response decoding, leading to a potential denial of service.

Why does it matter?

A remote attacker can exhaust a client application's resources, causing it to experience a denial of service.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and updates
  • Apply available patches for affected systems
  • Review security bulletins
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

libtirpc içinde, pmap_getmaps() kullanan istemcilere gönderilen PMAPPROC_DUMP yanıtları yoluyla servis dışı kalmaya yol açan bir zafiyet bulunmaktadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

A flaw was found in libtirpc. A remote attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted PMAPPROC_DUMP replies to a client application that uses the pmap_getmaps() function against an attacker-controlled host. This unbounded decoding can lead to excessive memory and CPU allocation, causing the client process to experience a Denial of Service (DoS) due to resource exhaustion.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
