Short explanation
A pre-authentication admin bypass and remote code execution vulnerability exists in the Nutanix Prism Gateway inside AOS (S0). An unauthenticated remote attacker can gain full access to administrative API endpoints by including a crafted HTTP header (S0). The patch status is currently unknown based on the provided evidence (S0).
This critical vulnerability allows attackers to compromise cluster management, access sensitive data, and execute root-level commands across the target cluster (S0).
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories and official security alerts
- Check the Nutanix support portal for available software updates
Chain of evidence and sources
Saldırganlar, özel bir HTTP başlığı kullanarak kimlik doğrulamasını atlayabilir ve Prism Element üzerindeki yönetici API uç noktalarına tam erişim elde edebilir.
Başarılı istismar, tüm Controller VM'lerde root yetkileri ile komut çalıştırılmasına ve tam küme imhasına yol açabilir.
Show the technical text from the sources
An unauthenticated remote attacker can bypass authentication and gain full access to administrative API endpoints in Nutanix Prism Element by including a crafted internal management HTTP header. The vulnerability is caused by a misconfiguration in the application's authentication filters. Consequently, the server responds with a Set-Cookie header containing a valid JSESSIONID. This session cookie decodes to a JSON Web Token (JWT) granting maximum cluster administrative privileges. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to execute root-level commands on all Controller VMs (CVMs) in the cluster, leading to complete cluster destruction and unauthorized access to VM memory and virtual disks.
