Short explanation

An unauthenticated remote vulnerability exists in pupnp where parse_hostport synchronously calls getaddrinfo. Slow or nonresponsive hostnames can exhaust the thread pool and cause a denial of service.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows remote attackers to exhaust the thread pool and deny UPnP service, carrying a high severity rating.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and updates
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

pupnp, UPnP aygıt ve denetim noktası uygulamaları geliştirmek için bir SDK'dır.

Sürüm 22.0.4 öncesinde parse_hostport işlevi, getaddrinfo işlevini senkron olarak çağırır.

Show the technical text from the sources

pupnp is an SDK for development of UPnP device and control point applications. Prior to 22.0.4, parse_hostport in upnp/src/genlib/net/uri/uri.c synchronously calls getaddrinfo while parse_uri is processing attacker-supplied hostnames from inbound HTTP request targets in upnp/src/genlib/net/http/httpparser.c and GENA SUBSCRIBE CALLBACK headers handled by create_url_list in upnp/src/gena/gena_device.c. A remote unauthenticated peer can choose a slow or nonresponsive hostname and block a bounded miniserver worker for the resolver timeout, allowing a small number of requests to exhaust the thread pool and deny UPnP service. This issue is fixed in 22.0.4.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
