Short explanation
CVE-2026-73814 is an improper permission restriction vulnerability in Gitea. It allows an authenticated repository collaborator with Admin access to promote their access mode to Owner and perform repository ownership operations.
This vulnerability allows administrators to obtain repository ownership privileges they should not normally possess, violating organizational data integrity and permission boundaries.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor advisories and updates
- Review the provided patch references
- Update the Gitea installation
Chain of evidence and sources
Gitea iş birliği erişim modu uç noktası, Admin yetkisine sahip iş birlikçilerden Owner erişim modunu kabul etmektedir.

Show the technical text from the sources
Gitea's collaboration access-mode endpoint accepts the Owner access mode from an authenticated repository collaborator with Admin access. The collaborator can promote their effective permissions from Admin to Owner and then perform owner-only operations, including transferring the repository to their own account. This bypasses the intended boundary between repository administration and ownership.
