Short explanation
An out-of-bounds read vulnerability exists in the Nikon metadata tag parser of the avidemux module within GStreamer gst-plugins-good.
Opening or previewing a crafted AVI file with user interaction can lead to information disclosure and denial of service.
What should be done?
- Follow vendor security advisories and updates
- Update affected plugins and dependencies
- Avoid processing untrusted AVI files
Chain of evidence and sources
GStreamer gst-plugins-good avidemux bileşeninde Nikon meta veri etiket çözümleyicisi kaynaklı bir sınır dışı okuma zafiyeti bulunmaktadır.
avidemux playbin, decodebin ve gst-discoverer tarafından otomatik olarak eklendiği için hazırlanmış bir AVI dosyası sorunu tetikleyebilir.
Show the technical text from the sources
A flaw was found in GStreamer gst-plugins-good (avidemux). In the Nikon metadata tag parser, a pointer can be dereferenced without verifying that data remains in the buffer, causing out-of-bounds reads. Because avidemux is auto-plugged by playbin, decodebin, and gst-discoverer, opening or previewing a crafted AVI is sufficient to trigger the issue. Fixed upstream in gst-plugins-good 1.28.6 (GStreamer-SA-2026-0072).
