Short explanation

CVE-2026-71854 in OpenAEV involves unauthenticated access and missing object-level authorization on player lessons API endpoints. Unauthenticated clients knowing an exercise UUID can read lessons-learned questions and answers or manipulate answers attributed to arbitrary users.

Why does it matter?

This vulnerability allows attackers to access sensitive exercise data and create or modify answers on behalf of authorized users. Unauthenticated API calls can lead to significant confidentiality and integrity violations.

What should be done?

  • Update the OpenAEV platform to a non-vulnerable version
  • Follow vendor security advisories
  • Review access controls for API endpoints
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

OpenAEV platformunun player lessons API uç noktalarında kimlik doğrulama eksikliği bulunmaktadır.

Show the technical text from the sources

OpenAEV is an open source platform allowing organizations to plan, schedule and conduct cyber adversary simulation campaign and tests. Prior to version 2.260622.0, on a default installation, the `/api/player/**` lessons endpoints can be called without authentication, and they trust a client-supplied `userId` query parameter without verifying that the caller is that user or a member of the exercise. An unauthenticated client that knows an exercise UUID can read lessons-learned questions and answers (including each answer's author identity) and create or overwrite answers attributed to an arbitrary user. Version 2.260622.0 contains a patch.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
