Short explanation

CVE-2026-68079 in Apache CXF allows unlimited authorization code reuse due to a flaw in removeCodeGrant. No active exploitation is confirmed. Patch status is UNKNOWN. Affected versions are 4.2.0 < 4.2.3, 4.0.0 < 4.1.8, and 0 < 3.6.12.

Why does it matter?

This flaw enables attackers to reuse authorization codes, potentially leading to unauthorized access. It affects authentication flows and undermines security of OAuth-based systems. Patching is recommended but patch status is UNKNOWN.

What should be done?

  • Upgrade to Apache CXF 4.2.3, 4.1.8, or 3.6.12
  • Follow vendor advisory for version-specific patch guidance
  • No patch status assessment available in evidence

Show the technical text from the sources

In Apache CXF's DefaultEncryptingCodeDataProvider, a captured authorization code can be redeemed an unlimited number of times due to a flaw in the implementation of the removeCodeGrant functionality. This violates the RFC requirement that "The authorization code MUST NOT be used more than once." Users are recommended to upgrade to versions 4.2.3 or 4.1.8 or 3.6.12, which fix this issue.

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
