Short explanation
CVE-2026-62346 is a stored XSS in Wanderer before 0.19.3, where crafted waypoint.name or waypoint.icon values are injected into an innerHTML template of the elevation profile, allowing attackers to run scripts in victims’ browsers.
The script runs in the victim’s context, potentially exposing session data or performing actions on behalf of the user.
What should be done?
- Upgrade Wanderer to version 0.19.3 or later (S0,S1)
- HTML‑encode and validate waypoint.name and waypoint.icon before inserting into the DOM (S0)
- Follow vendor advisory and monitor for malicious waypoint data (S0)
Chain of evidence and sources
CVE-2026-62346, waypoint.name ve waypoint.icon alanlarının innerHTML’e kodlanmadan eklenmesiyle Wanderer’da depolanmış XSS oluşturur (S0,S1).
Bu güvenlik açığı, Wanderer 0.19.3 sürümünde düzeltilmiştir (S0,S1).
CISA KEV listesinde aktif istismar rapor edilmemiştir (S0).
Show the technical text from the sources
Wanderer is a self-hosted trail database for saving and sharing adventures. Prior to 0.19.3, an authenticated local user can submit crafted waypoint.name and waypoint.icon values that the trail elevation graph interpolates into an innerHTML template in web/src/lib/vendor/maplibre-elevation-profile/elevationprofile.ts without HTML encoding or icon validation. A victim viewing the elevation profile executes the attacker-controlled script in their browser. Separately, federated waypoints can deliver the same malicious fields across instances without requiring the attacker to have a local account on the receiving instance. The script can expose session data or perform actions in the victim's context. This issue is fixed in version 0.19.3.
