Short explanation

Docat contains an arbitrary file upload vulnerability in the Upload API due to the lack of validation for uploaded file paths or types. This flaw allows attackers to overwrite sensitive configuration files or place malicious files on the web server.

Why does it matter?

The vulnerability enables authenticated users to modify sensitive files on the server, potentially leading to remote code execution or cross-site scripting depending on the deployment context.

What should be done?

  • Follow vendor advisories and updates
  • Review version 1.6.0 deployment
  • Monitor file upload API usage
Chain of evidence and sources2 verified claims

Docat Upload API, yüklenen dosya yolunu veya türünü doğrulamadığı için rastgele dosya yükleme açığı barındırmaktadır.

Sürüm 1.6.0 dosya adı tabanlı dizin geçişini hafifletmektedir.

Show the technical text from the sources

Docat is a tool for hosting versioned static documentation. In the affected implementation, an arbitrary file upload vulnerability in the `Upload API` arises because the API does not validate the `uploaded file path or type`. An attacker can overwrite sensitive configuration files or place malicious files on the Docat web server. Depending on deployment context, uploaded content can enable remote code execution or cross-site scripting intended to steal cookies or redirect users to malicious websites. Version 1.6.0 mitigates filename-based path traversal; remediation of unrestricted file types or deployment-dependent malicious-content effects is not established by the verified patch.

Patch and Remediation Guide

Solution & Remediation Advisory

Patch status unknown

İncelenen resmî kaynaklarda yama durumu doğrulanamadı. Bu sonuç “yama yok” anlamına gelmez.

Confirm the affected product and version against the source evidence above.
Restrict access to internet-facing services and apply network segmentation.
Until a patch is confirmed, follow the vendor advisory; do not read an unknown status as “no patch”.
Monitor server logs and network endpoints for signs of anomalous execution.
